Pictures from Anti-Drug Speech ( High Resolution )

Here’s a few more higher res pics from the anti drug speech last weekend. I think it was pretty entertaining for everyone, and left people with something to think about. It’s not every day that someone suggests it might be a good idea to never do drugs or drink alcohol, and it might lead to you have an amazing life if you avoid these things.

In the age of Fentanyl, it’s urgent that we get this message out quickly. Since 2016, there has been an increase in fentanyl being mixed in with other drugs like cocaine and Molly (ecstasy). In 2019, there was so much fentanyl in New York City’s cocaine supply that the health commissioner was giving Narcan to bar owners. They were also passing out coasters warning drinkers in bars that fentanyl was being added to their cocaine.

If you are not familiar with why this would be happening and why people need a warning, let me shed some light on it.

#1 Lots of drinkers will do a bit of cocaine here and there. I’m not talking about hardcore alcoholics, I’m talking about weekend drinkers, house party people, or someone who goes to a music festival. Cocaine is widespread and popular.

I remember the first time I found this out, I was honestly a bit shocked. I had recently moved to Los Angeles and I was starting to hang out with the musicians and actors around town. It was my 2nd day in Los Angeles and I attended Slash’s birthday party at a club called Hyde. I remember thinking to myself, “this is more cocaine than I’ve ever seen before.” People would casually walk off to the bathroom every few minutes, do a quick bump of coke, and then rejoin the party. Hyde was the most exclusive club in LA at the time. At least people were civilized enough to not do coke out in the open.

I asked my friend Jim, who was my LA tour guide at the time, if this was normal. He said yes people do cocaine every weekend when they are out drinking. This was in 2007, right around the same time the “Master Clense” was popular. I asked Jim what about all these health nut people? Aren’t people trying to get in shape around here? He said yes, but they still drink and do cocaine. OK, I guess there’s a different system of logic in LA.

It was all fun and games until the dealers started putting Fentanyl in the cocaine. Why would they do that?

#2 Drug dealers want to be known for having “strong stuff.”

Years later, while working at Healing Path Recovery, a recovering drug addict mentioned to me that if someone dies from your drugs, it a badge of honor for the dealer. It shows that the drugs are strong, and they are not being diluted with weak stuff.

Don’t the dealers care if someone dies? Well I’d assume they probably do care, but it’s really more important to sell product. The dealers know that when word gets around that someone has died, the demand for your supply will go up. That’s just the reality of the situation. Again, these people are operating on a different system of logic than you or I might be.

Being a weekend drinker seems like a normal thing. But when you drink it changes your decision process and you make choices you wouldn’t make otherwise. You might even choose to try some cocaine. That cocaine might just happen to have some fentanyl mixed in. And you that might make you dead.
